A Remembrance Sunday Service for the Merchant Navy will be held at the Metropolitan Cathedral, Liverpool at 1500. All wreath layers and Standard Bearers should be there at 1430. Thursday,17th. at 1200/1230 at the Maritime Museum. The L.N.R.S. will present a talk “The Marine Propellor” by Dr.Graham Patience. Dr.Patience was formerly M.D. of Stone Manganese Marine of Birkenhead. Thursday, 17th. at 1800 at J.M.U., Byrom Street. The Nautical Institute will present a talk “Marine Management Organisation” by Daniel Ward in Room 218. DECEMBER, 2011: 10th. The usual Commemorative Service for the loss of the PRINCE OF WALES and REPULSE will this year be held at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas. It is the 70th.Anniversary. Thursday, 15th. at 1200/1230 at the Maritime Museum. The L.N.R.S. will present a talk “The THETIS Disaster” by Derek Arnold. The THETIS disaster of 1939 is still the R.N.’s worst peacetime submarine disaster. D. Arnold is the son of the last man out. Thursday, 15th. at 1800. The Annual Christmas Carol Service in aid of the Liverpool Seafarers Centre will be held at the Seafarers Church, Our Lady and St.Nicholas’s Church. Sponsors with Gift Aid will be most welcome. Wine and Mince Pies will be served afterwards. Admittance is FREE but for Administrative purposes would you please apply for tickets by Post.
