Frank Armitt has a vast amount of experience with steel dating back to the start of 1950. The company provides specialist services such as arranging stevedoring, storage and distribution of steel products.

The services for the steel industry form a significant part of Frank Armitt's business operating a specialised Steel Department for over 40 years. The Department also deals with the distribution of timber products.

Frank Armitt have a justifiably excellent reputation within the steel industry in respect of the standard and extent of their services, product management, logistical control, customer liaison and speed of delivery.

Steel shipments are handled in house at the Port of Garston and at the Port of Liverpool where shipments are discharged by the Port Authority together with their specially trained dockside supervisors who have the ability and flexibility to solve potential problems before they happen.

Frank Armitt's Steel Department provides a wide range of services which includes:-

• Full stevedoring quotations
• Warehouse and open quay storage
• Speedy delivery of products to final destination throughout UK including Ireland and Europe
• De-canning of steel containers at Garston. Upending of coils (max. 12 tonnes)
• Full Customs and Port clearance
• Re-banding facilities
• De-canning of coils and inspection facility
• Specialised discharge and full logistical services for gas pipelines (up to 48 inch diameter) throughout UK including pipe dumps, all to IGEM Standards
• Excellent documentation and stock control
• Provision of a wide range of delivery, stock reports, etc. Providing full assistance in respect of annual stock audits and any other inspections.

Bulks and Other Cargoes
Frank Armitt and Son provide a wide range of services for bulk minerals, timber and other cargoes. At Garston docks there are modern bulk storage units which are internally separated with minimum 3 metre high concrete bunker walls.
