7 JULY 2015, 07.45 – 09.00AM: MERSEY MARITIME OFFICES, BIRKENHEAD
WITH GUEST PRESENTATION BY RICHARD MAWDSLEY, PROJECTS DIRECTOR, PEEL GROUP
July 7th was notable for many things, not least the 30 year anniversary of Boris Becker’s first triumph at Wimbledon in 1985, aged 17. And whilst Mersey Maritime’s tennis credentials aren’t exactly on a par with Boris’s, we can certainly be relied on to keep serving up the aces.
Our July Face-2-Face meeting featured guest presenter Richard Mawdsley of the Peel Group, who is responsible for delivery of the hugely ambitious and transformational Wirral Waters project. Richard provided an overview of the Peel Group, one of the UK’s biggest developers, highlighting some of its past, present and future projects, with specific reference to the Group’s 30 year, £5 billion plan to transform the semi-derelict Birkenhead dock system into a mixed use, sustainable ‘city extension’. Wirral Waters is the largest regeneration project in the UK, spanning an area of nearly 120 hectares.
