After many many months of prep in the lead up to the International Festival for Business this summer, the dawning of the Maritime, Logistics and Energy thematic programme was upon us. As the countdown began, were joined at our May F2F by IFB Festival Director Ian McCarthy to talk about Liverpool Vision’s role as the economic development company for the city. Ian also provided an overview of the 200+ events programme taking place in and around Liverpool over June and July 2014 and why businesses of all sizes needed to maximise the opportunity to develop stronger trading links.
Our second guest speaker in May was Shulah Jones of Hugh Baird College in Bootle, North Liverpool. HBC had been working closer with Mersey Maritime and other partners to help position the college to meet future skills demand being created by SuperPort. Its new Port Academy Liverpool specialises in port operations and maritime logistics primarily for young people aged 14 and up, and launched in September 2014.
